Score Sheet / Game Stat Verification Close Out Process
EFFECTIVE EMMEDIATELY
To help with the verification and closeout process through not only the newer electronic scorekeeping system, but also the paper score sheets, below are the processes and procedures for both the officials, as well as the responsibilities of the scorekeepers. Please read through these respective responsibilities and let’s as a team make sure we are all following the procedures to insure all games and stats are accurately recorded and closed out within the system.
PRE GAME RESPONSIBIITES:
1. Scorekeepers will be responsible for entering/noting all on ice officials prior to the start of the game.
a. Electronic Systems: Scorekeepers will use the drop down menu listing supplied in the system.
i. Note: Please verify first and last names as there are many officials with the same last name throughout the state.
ii. Note: If the name is not in the system drop down menu, you will need to choose “Default Official” and then manually type the name in the game notes.
b. Paper Score Sheets: Scorekeepers are to print the official’s names on the score sheet prior to the start of the game.
POST GAME RESPONSIBIITES: (CLOSING OUT/VERIFYING GAME SHEETS)
1. Once the scorekeeper has entered all game info and stats into the system, the official will be required to verify and insure all stats are accurate. It will be up the official to request the scorekeeper to rectify any stats that are not recorded properly before closing out the game.
2. Once the official is satisfied with the game information they will be required to supply the scorekeeper with their USAH Officiating number for entry into the electronic system.
a. All officials will be required to carry their USAH officiating number with them at all times while on the ice to insure there is no delay for the closing out of games.
b. To make it easy for yourselves as Officials, use one of the following methods to always have your officials' number handy:
1.) If your helmet has a light-colored liner, write your officials number on it with a felt pen.
2.) If your helmet has a dark-colored liner, write your officials number on a piece of white tape, and stick it onto your liner.
3.) Laminate your Officials Card and keep it in your pocket.
3. It will be the scorekeeper’s responsibility to input the official’s numbers into the electronic score keeping system, this allowing the game to be properly closed out.
4. (Paper score sheets)The same process will be used for paper score sheets, except that the officials will not only be required to sign the game sheets with their actual signatures as has done for many years, but in addition will also now be required to record their USAH officiating number under their signature.
FAQ’s
1. Do all one ice officials names need to be recorded prior to the start of the game?
a. YES. It’s important all officials’ names are chosen and recorded for record keeping purposes.
2. Does the system require all on-ice officials to supply their USAH numbers before the game can be closed out in the system?
a. NO. Within the electronic system, only one official’s number will be required to close out games. Preferably it will be the senior official in the 2 man system and the Referee in a 3 man system. The electronic system does have space for all officials’ numbers, but it’s not mandated.
i. NOTE: Paper Score sheets do require and have space for all officials’ signatures and numbers.
3. Do the officials need to wait if edits need to be made to the score sheets?
