Becoming an Ice Hockey Official requires completion of the following:
1.) Purchase the following equipment: Black Helmet, Referee Sweater, Officiating
Pants, Whistles, (two - you should always carry two), Shin Pads, Elbow Pads, Cup,
and white laces for your skates. These can be found at local hockey stores, or at
http://www.officialswearhouse.com/2.) Attend a USA Hockey / CIHRA Officiating seminar in August, September, or October.

Dates, Times, & Locations, and Register Online for a Level 1 seminar once our Online
Registration is up.
- Register online with USA Hockey before you attend your Seminar. You may register
at - http://www.usahockeyregistration.com , and will be required to pay your USA
Hockey National Dues.3.) Successfully pass a 50 question USA Hockey Open Rule Book written test for Level 1
applicants, (after you have attended your Seminar).4.) Successfully pass a 50 question USA Hockey Open Rule Book written test, and a 50
question closed book test for Level 2 applicants, (at your Seminar).5.) Successfully pass a 100 question USA Hockey Open Rule Book written test, and a 50
question Closed Book written test, for Level 3 applicants, (at your Seminar).6.) Successfully pass a 100 question USA Hockey Open Rule Book written test, a 50 question
Closed Book written test, and a skating test, for Level 4 applicants, (at your Seminar).7.) Pay your yearly CIHRA Local Membership Dues, at your Seminar. (Dues amount is
dependent upon your Level)
